My sight has failed me because of trouble;
Lord, I have called upon you daily;
I have stretched out my hands to you.
Psalm 88:10
Through the dark
the torrents
scour the earth
then abate
leaving in their wake
a paradox of grief and release
Now the sun lavishes brilliant beams
on the storm swept
but its warmth has not yet
touched our hearts
Day of grief
day of waiting
empty hands
still reaching forth
